DMV couldn’t tell the difference from the originals! Excellent addition to my classic car!

The craftsmanship is outstanding. The quality of the aluminum is actually better than a stock California plate. However, the color of the yellow lettering is slightly off than original. In the photo it may seem slight, but in person you can really tell the difference. Also, the embossed California letters are not as prominent with paint as the original. I reached out to customer service and unfortunately this is the only type of yellow they have. I also was ok with keeping it ONLY because of the spacing of the fonts that I was able to achieve unlike stock where spacing is limited to only one space gap. Kinda sucks I’ll have to pay more to get it painted to exact elsewhere. But, it you can live with the color being slightly off, you’ll be ok.

Wonderful experience. I made a mistake and put the wrong numbers on the plate. I contacted them but they had already made the plate and packaged it for shipping. The authenticity of this Cal 1963 Black plate so much exceeded my expectations that I give it six stars out of five! It is that good. The detail accuracy in font and color is especially good...better than what gets rendered in the sample picture when ordering. Good job! (My plate was a time-accurate 3 letters + 3 numbers with space between.)

My new plate is close to the one produced by the State of California (shown for comparison below). Spacing is a little different but the painting is more accurate on the new one. Aluminum base looks authentic; holes and indents properly placed.

Quality is top notch, i couldnt be happier. In comparison to the new legacy plates these dont have that annoying red tint from the reflective coating, the yellow lettering is a touch darker on these which i personally like more especially with the nice deep gloss black background. All in all im extremely satisfied with my purchase no complaints whatsoever.

The upper plate is the one I ordered, and the lower one is the official California 1960's legacy plate that was issued to me. You can see a few differences: the real California one is less red, there's less space between the letters, and the CALIFORNIA letters are a little thicker. The reason I ordered this fake plate: My car was stolen last summer, along with my custom plates. In California, if you lose both plates, you can never get your personalized plate back, it's gone for good. I had to re-order plates and it took 6 months, and I don't love them as much as my originals. So I decided to put a fake "replica" plate on the front, and keep my real one, in case they're ever stolen again. With one plate in your possession, you can get your personalized plates back, according to the California DMV. These plates are close. I'm using them, and hopefully won't get stopped by the police for it. For my other car, I had ordered the 1966 replica, and this is the 1963 replica. There's no difference between them, and they're both a bit more red in the yellow color, plus the CALIFORNIA letters are a little different, and the space is too wide. The build quality of these plates is excellent. They're the same metal\aluminum, the black is good, and the stamping is high quality. The build quality is indistinguishable from the the original California plates.

I’ve been running these plates front and back for awhile now. Compared with my buddy’s DMV-issued plates they are nearly identical. The only difference is build quality. I think these are much better build quality than the DMV ones. Toll road cameras and the like have no problems picking these up. Like others have said, shipping time was pretty quick. All in all, a great purchase.

The quality is great and the colors are correct, BUT the letters and numbers are much narrower than the original. The space that separates the letters from the numbers is much wider on the replica plate. I realize that this is just a show plate, but the characters should be as bold as the original California '63 plate.
